Kikisoblu, the daughter of the Duwamish Chief Seattle, got her name "Princess Angeline" from pioneer Catherine Maynard. She became friends with many of Seattle's early pioneers, and in her later years, she was a much-photographed figure in the city - and a potent symbol of Indigenous resilience and resistance.
