A memorial ceremony was held today at The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Point honoring the 29 lives lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald. Speeches from many people including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Elissa Slotkin, and Sen. John Damoose were given at the ceremony. The bell was rung 30 times, 29 for those who lost their lives the night of the Fitzgerald sinking and 1 other time for others who lost their lives in the Great Lakes.
