Nine Fargo Public Schools Virtual Academy students were recognized at the school’s Semester 1 graduation ceremony on Thursday, January 22 at Bluestem Center for the Arts in Moorhead. Fargo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Cory Steiner and Fargo Board of Education member Nyamal Dei attended and presented diplomas to the students. Horace Mann Elementary School’s administration invited the community to bid farewell to a school that has served students in Fargo for more than a century. The community was invited to take a walk down memory lane inside the historic building on December 29. Opened in 1915, it will be demolished following the completion of this school year. Virtual Academy freshman Jaydan Sandbeck was honored by Sanford Ambulance with a Citizens Lifesaving Award last Thursday, January 8. This fall, Jaydan performed CPR on his father, Justin Sandbeck, after he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. Jaydan's efforts kept his dad alive until first responders arrived. Jaydan attributes his CPR knowledge, in part, to lessons learned in Ms. Goldmann's seventh grade health class at Discovery Middle School. | Fargo Public Schools
