I was asked to make a flower arrangement that was more masculine in nature and features blues, oranges, whites and yellows. Here is a garden style arrangement from what’s blooming in my flower fields currently. | Blooming Joy Flower Company

One thing I’m constantly doing is experimenting. I’m not afraid to try something and lose a plant. It’s how you learn and how I’ve been able to figure out we can grow year round here in Tennessee, planting seeds 12 months outta the year! Meet my newest experiment: Stock in bloom in March in the greenhouse. Best crop of Stock I’ve grown to date! | Blooming Joy Flower Company

Hello! I took a much needed social media break most of the holiday season. Now that we’ve finished the holiday season, my focus is turning to seed starting and transplanting! Yes, this early for Spring flowers & veggies (here in middle TN Zone 7). Today’s task was filling bulb crates and transplanting my October sown Stock. They will stay in the greenhouse and be in bloom in March! The end of this video shows what last years stock looked like! | Blooming Joy Flower Company

It may be crazy to think but this entire bouquet is created by the fall and winter cut flower tasks I do living in middle TN, zone 7. For reference, this video was taken on May 16th of this year. If I had waited until my last frost date (around April 15th) to start all these flowers, I would not accomplish this bouquet. Check out my latest blog posts of some cut flower tasks I do (link in comments) | Blooming Joy Flower Company

This BloomJoy™ kit gave us a true WOW moment this summer! My daughter’s eyes lit up when the color started blooming through the petals. It kept her calm, focused, and excited to create, all while learning real science without even realizing it! No mess, no screens, just hands-on fun that sparks imagination 👉 https://starhelio.com/products/bloomjoy | Star Helio

It is really interesting being in both the cut flower farming world and the gardening world and reading comments online. I am skilled in both. We plant similar plants but can do things very differently. In flower farming, it is common practice to plant tulip bulbs “as close as eggs in a carton” (but never IN an egg carton. That’s a recipe for bulb rot.) In the gardening world, you typically space tulips farther apart because they are being enjoyed in the garden and the hope is they will multiply

New Poppy opened this morning! Isn’t she GORGEOUS??!!! As beautiful as the flower is, the bloom won’t last long. The flower head will eventually turn to a pod (very loved in floral design!) and eventually seeds too if I don’t cut the pod. 😄🌱 | Blooming Joy Flower Company

I associate Thanksgiving as a reminder to me to start thinking about sowing poppy seeds outside. I’ll link a collection of poppy seeds in the comments. They are a flower that benefits from the winters colder temperatures to grow more abundantly in the spring. Contrary to everything you read about not transplanting poppies, I’ve transplanted hundreds over the years and they do fine- just don’t disturb their roots! 😄 | Blooming Joy Flower Company

We got our first frost last night at my farm. The summer flowers are now laid to rest and the Spring flowers are birthing in my Flowerhouse. Much of what I do in the fall sets up a large chunk of my cut flowers for next year. Let the fun work begin!! | Blooming Joy Flower Company

It seems there is about a bajillion ways to grow seeds…😂 not really a bajillion but you can start seeds by direct sowing, soil blocking, in trays, in milk jugs, a greenhouse, plastic bags, in toilet paper rolls, newspapers, egg shells…so many creative ways! I am thankful for some of the mistakes I’ve made through the years with growing seedlings. Here are a few ways I’ve improved! | Blooming Joy Flower Company

One piece of advice I am thankful to my younger self is taking the time to document the process of my plant & cut flower journey. You never know what you will do with these photos and videos years later. 7 years into this cut flower journey and I’ve found myself developing speaking presentations on all sorts of cut flower topics and I have a library of photos to use. Document your journey…you never know where the future will bring you. 😄🌱 | Blooming Joy Flower Company
