The Russian occupation of Kharkiv Oblast, officially the Kharkov Military–Civilian Administration, [b] is an ongoing military occupation that began on 24 February 2022, after Russian forces invaded Ukraine and began capturing and occupying parts of Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine.

On 10 May 2024, the Russian Armed Forces began an offensive operation in Ukraine's Kharkiv Oblast, shelling and attempting to breach the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the direction of Vovchansk and Kharkiv. [4] . The Guardian reported that the offensive has led to Russia's biggest territorial gains in 18 months. [5] .
