Built in 1995, the Allegheny County Jail (ACJ) is a high-rise, direct-supervision jail located in downtown Pittsburgh. Incarcerated individuals committed by the Courts are housed at the ACJ facility and at two alternative housing facilities.

Allegheny County Jail offers incarcerated individuals a wide range of resources including case management, chaplaincy, and re-entry programs.

Incarcerated individual booking date information can be found by calling the Allegheny County Jail at 412-350-2000 or the Arraignment Court at 412-350-3240.

The jail’s meal policy provides that all individuals are provided three meals per day, two of which must be hot. Certain emergencies or facility operation disruptions may necessitate the suspension of this policy.

The jail has up to 48 hours to release an individual, starting at midnight of the day the release order is sent to the jail. Bonded individuals are typically released within three hours of the jail’s receipt of paperwork.
