Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's White House meeting with Trump could set stage for trilateral summit as Ukraine rejects any peace deal undermining its sovereignty with Russia.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not reach a deal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine after talks in Alaska on Friday, as the two leaders offered scant details on what was discussed but heaped praise on one another.

However U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Putin agreed to allow the U.S. and its European allies to offer Ukraine a security guarantee at his meeting with Trump.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, is scheduled to speak with the media at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, according to the White House, a day after President Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders.

As Trump was flying into Alaska, he was threatening severe consequences if Putin didn’t play ball. Trump stressed that he wouldn’t be happy if he left the summit without an immediate ceasefire and that new sanctions may be necessary if the Russians were intransigent.
