Faux spring is coming to an end in the Bay Area. After consecutive days of widespread 70- to 80-degree temperatures, a gradual cooldown is expected through the weekend. By Sunday, temperatures will struggle to crack 60 degrees in most cities and rain will return to the region.

Scattered rain and snow showers are expected Saturday, along with a mostly cloudy sky. Highs reach near 40 degrees, before plummeting into the 20s by late afternoon. Icy travel is possible during the afternoon and evening, as any standing water freezes up and localized snow showers continue.

Today, a low-pressure system passes through bringing us cloudy skies and scattered showers. This low-pressure system has an introductory warm front, which will help provide us with warm highs in the 30s and 40s.
