With the return to the Atlanta Braves of Jurickson Profar from suspension, Alex Verdugo is now waiting for a phone call from another team.

Verdugo, 29, is now out of a job after signing a one-year, $1.5 million contract with Atlanta in late March, which followed a long offseason of searching for his next team. After spending the first few weeks in the minors, Verdugo was called up in mid-April, hitting .341/.396/.455 in 48 plate appearances through the first month.

The Atlanta Braves designated Alex Verdugo for assignment to make room for fellow outfielder Jurickson Profar in a series of roster moves on Wednesday, that also included placing right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach on the 15-day injured list with a fractured right elbow.
