— The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic, a hallmark of Tampa Bay’s running community, is set to return in 2025, promising a weekend filled with fitness, fun, and family-friendly activities.

TAMPA, Fla. — On February 22 and 23, runners and walkers will take over Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa for the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic. There is a 5k, 8k, 15k and half marathon.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic brought out more runners than the event has ever seen before, with 2,100 more runners participating this year, compared to 2024.

But first, they are running the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic 8k. Oh, and another thing — they are extremely humble. “In our age group we are both in the 70 to 74 age group,” said Al.

The race includes the Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K and 5K on March 3 and the Gasparilla Half Marathon and “5+3K” event, presented by Sports Authority, on March 4.
