In 2023, Jeep's move to halt production of the Cherokee SUV left many scratching their heads. Now the Cherokee is back with a hybrid powertrain.

The last Cherokee ended production in 2023. The new version will be Jeep's first mild hybrid offered in North America.

Compared to the previous Cherokee, the 2026 model boasts 30% more cargo space, with 951 litres (33.6 cubic feet) with the seats upright; and 1,935L (68.3 cu ft) when folded. That’s more than the Ford Escape (1,722L) but lags the Toyota RAV4 (1,977L), Honda CR-V (2,030L), and Hyundai Tucson (2,108L).
