A motorcyclist died after a crash with a car on Interstate 5 in Tacoma Thursday afternoon. State patrol troopers were dispatched to the highway near South 56th Street for the crash at around 2:24 p.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Traffic was moving only in the left lane, with backups stretching more than 1.5 miles as of 8:50 p.m. Emergency responders were at the scene.
