Until now, polls have shown the majority of Americans support the president's hard-line position, but a new Gallup poll indicates attitudes are shifting.

In a marked reversal from a year ago, more Americans now have positive views about immigration, and a record high believes it is good for the nation.

Despite Trump's efforts, a Gallup poll from June shows 62% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s immigration policies, with only 35% approving. Similarly, a PBS News/NPR/Marist poll from June indicates only 43% believe his deportation policies make the U.

Administration officials said they would appeal a ruling to halt some of the administration's more aggressive tactics.
