Joseph Azcona, 26, was still in his police car when he was shot on Friday night, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Officials with the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said the teen is charged with numerous crimes including murder, attempted murder and possession of illegal weapons.

"It's really a separate track for the justice system, and it's designed that way," attorney Laura Sutnick said Sunday.
