The Lexington and Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, more commonly known as LRADAC, held its annual Black Balloon Day to honor lives lost to a drug overdose.
The mortality rate rose 1% in 2023 over the previous year. That’s about 2,500 deaths of unhoused people in Los Angeles County in 2023, 45% of which were caused by drug overdoses.
Both Bodiford and Parady remain hopeful that community outreach, education and events like Black Balloon Day will continue to raise awareness and save lives.
The exemptions, covering the two largest US trading partners, expire on April 2. Read more at straitstimes.com.
