Major League Baseball will implement the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge system (ABS) next year during the regular season and playoffs after Tuesday’s vote by MLB’s Joint Competition Committee.

Major League Baseball’s competition committee on Tuesday afternoon approved the introduction of the automated ball-strike system, or ABS, for the 2026 regular season.

A majority of players, along with several veteran managers and coaching staffs, have opposed the ABS.
