Alex Bregman's contract with the Boston Red Sox reportedly includes significant deferrals that brings the present-day value.

Those reports also revealed Bregman's contract would include deferred money, which is all the rage in MLB nowadays after the Los Angeles Dodgers deferred an enormous amount of money on Shohei Ohtani's contract to ensure they could keep a championship roster around him. On Thursday, ESPN's Buster Olney revealed what Bregman's deferred money will be.

The Red Sox initially drafted Bregman in the 29th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, but he turned them down and went to play baseball at the collegiate level with the LSU Tigers. Three years later, he ended up being selected by the Houston Astros with the 2nd overall pick of the 2015 MLB Draft, before he eventually found his way to the majors in 2016.
