The Los Angeles Rams are entering a critical window with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford, who understandably wants to be compensated for his talents in the form of a healthy raise. But the grass isn't always greener even if it comes with more dollars and respect, as Colin Cowherd advised on his show Monday afternoon.
According to SI’s Albert Breer, Stafford has been a name that has come out in Cleveland as their potential starter in 2025. The Rams recently allowed for Stafford’s representation to find a trade partner (and a new contract) in hopes that the numbers Stafford got could bring them closer to an agreement on a contract extension of their own.
Given his substantial cap hit if traded before June 1 the Rams would have to eat to move Stafford, the receiving team may have to pitch in some extra money to make the deal work. If Stafford is traded after June 1, then the money is extremely easy to work around.
Peter Schrager says Matthew Stafford wants at least $50M per year but the Rams won’t “break their back” to pay him top dollar
Peter Schrager of NFL Network reports Stafford is asking for $50 million per year in his next contract, a steep uptick in his current cost for a 37-year-old quarterback. The Steelers have more than enough space to accommodate it.
A blockbuster trade proposal has the Los Angeles Rams sending quarterback Matthew Stafford to the 49ers for Brock Purdy.
