MOOSE JAW, Sask. - Alex Weiermair scored a goal and added an assist in Portland's 5-2 win over Moose Jaw in Western Hockey League action on Friday night. Tyson Jugnauth had two assists for the Winterhawks.

The Portland Winterhawks have a fairly easy 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors, although the game was 2-2 just short of the midway point. It’s Portland’s 4th win of their Eastern trip; they’re 4-1 with a game to go.

When the Vancouver Giants reassigned goaltender Burke Hood in the fall of 2024, he decided to come home instead of returning to the Rink Hockey Academy or jumping to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Reggie Newman, Caleb Matthews and Kenta Isogai also scored for the B.C. Division-leading Royals (25-12-3-4), who outshot the Blazers 43-24. Teydon Trembecky chipped in with three assists, while Reschny and Isogai had a pair of helpers.

Kamiakin graduate Tuna Altahir spent the last four years of his life in Cheney, attending Eastern Washington University and playing for the school’s football team. Altahir also got his degree, majoring in criminal justice.
