More than a dozen mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus in Suffolk County, New York, health officials say.

The New York City Department of Health has announced additional days for mosquito spraying, as the number of mosquitoes that have tested positive for the West Nile virus has climbed to 272. As of Saturday Staten Island and Queens reported the most positive results,

Mosquitoes in nine Suffolk County areas have tested positive for West Nile virus, health officials said Monday. The 14 mosquito samples were collected in Nesconset, Northport, Dix Hills, Melville, Lindenhurst, West Babylon, St. James, Rocky Point and Holtsville on July 16, according to the Suffolk County Health Department.
