Athletics outfielder Tyler Soderstrom hits a solo home run in the fourth inning against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday at Target Field.

As the season got underway, Soderstrom immediately started to exhibit his power. His hot start and ability to hit the long ball put him atop the leaderboard for home runs, taking the MLB lead with eight total by April 15th.

In a 4-2 loss to the Athletics on Wednesday, the lasting image may be Twins reliever Génesis Cabrera punching his glove after giving up a go-ahead, two-run homer to Shea Langeliers to begin the 10th inning.

Soderstrom has split his time between catcher and first base with Las Vegas this season. He’s gotten 35 starts behind the plate, 24 nods at first base and nine outings as a designated hitter.
