A Pixel 9a design leak indicates Google might ditch the large camera bump, and I wonder if Gemini AI is responsible.

Google Pixel fans who don’t wish to break the bank often look to the more affordable A series of Pixel smartphones. The successor model of this series, the Pixel 9a, hasn’t been released yet, but at this point nearly everything important about the handset has been leaked.

The publication further notes that the Pixel 9a lineup will come in the same colors as the Pixel 9 series i.e., Peony, Obsidian, and Porcelain, along with an Iris (purple) color and matching cases to go with it.

From these images, we can see that the camera location and shape on these phones appears to be almost identical. The lozenge-shared area in the top left-hand corner of the rear presents the phone’s cameras, with Google offering two, while Apple only has one.

A new set of leaked Pixel 9A renders appears to confirm months of rumors that Google is virtually ditching the camera bump this year. The images, published by Android Headlines, also show the phone in four colors — black (Obsidian), white (Porcelain), pink (Peony), and purple (Iris) — will look like.

Other expected Pixel 9a specifications include the Tensor G4 chipset with 8GB memory, a 48MP primary camera with a 13MP ultra-wide lens, a 6.3-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, etc. It should ship with Android 15 out-of-the-box, with loads of Gemini AI features.

The Google Pixel 9a colors have leaked, and the device will come in four colorways — Obsidian, Porcelain, Peony, and Rock Blue.
