The Arizona Diamondbacks’ season is long over, but a battle is brewing in the Valley of the Sun over local media’s coverage of All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte. Marte has been a key figure for the D-Backs for two seasons now.

On Thursday night, an article published by long-time Diamondbacks beat writer Nick Piecoro set the D-backs fanbase into a frenzy. I’m sure everyone is aware of the article and its contents at this point, but on the off chance you haven’t, please read it here before reading further.

Ketel Marte took a few slow steps out of the batter’s box, appreciating his handiwork. His hard liner covered 445 feet in about five seconds flat, landing five rows deep in the second deck in left field here at Globe Life Field.

The Arizona Diamondbacks just lost three of four to the Colorado Rockies, but attention has been focused on second baseman Ketel Marte, and the team's reported
