There's a season for flash flooding every year, but 2025 has been marked by extremely deadly torrents of rainfall across the country.
At 11:58 a.m. on Friday, the NWS San Diego CA released an updated flash flood warning in effect until 2 p.m. for San Bernardino County.
A flash flood warning was in effect in New York City until 9:45 p.m., and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency. Middlesex, Morris and Somerset counties remained under a flood warning until 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA released a flash flood warning at 2:47 p.m. on Friday in effect until 6 p.m. for Los Angeles.
The warning was issued for Ashe County. "The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures," states the NWS Blacksburg VA. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m.

The NWS Wakefield VA released an updated flash flood warning at 10:09 p.m. on Friday in effect until Saturday at 12:15 a.m. for Gates and Hertford counties.
Eastern Johnson County and east central Wyandotte County in Kansas, as well as northwestern Cass County and southwestern Jackson County in Missouri are under a flash flood warning until 1:15 p.m.
