Colorado Springs will send out ballots for its April municipal election without a question about overturning legalized recreational pot sales after courts invalidated the ballot measure.

In November, 54 percent of Colorado Springs voters voted to allow existing medical dispensaries to sell recreational marijuana within city limits. But following that vote, the Colorado Springs city council voted 7-2 in January to put the issue back on the spring ballot, with Councilmembers Nancy Henjum and Yolanda Avila voting against it.

An El Paso County judge earlier this week blocked the city’s latest attempt to again force people in the city to decide whether to allow recreational marijuana sales.

The city of Colorado Springs can go ahead with a question to repeal the recent recreational marijuana ballot measure, an El Paso County District Court judge ruled Wednesday afternoon. However, the city must change the wording of what's on the ballot to avoid confusing voters.

In a decision made by an El Paso County Court Judge, and the Colorado Supreme Court, recreational marijuana will not be appearing on Colorado Springs municipal election ballots in April.

On Thursday, the City of Colorado Springs confirmed recreational marijuana will not appear on the April 1 ballot.
