The House of Representatives passed the Congressional Review Act resolution on Friday to block the Environmental Protection Agency's new emissions standards.

The U.S. House voted, 215-191, on Friday to roll back an Environmental Protection Agency rule strengthening standards for air pollution from car and truck tailpipes. Eight Democrats joined all but one Republican present in voting to approve a resolution under the Congressional Review Act,

President Joe Biden reiterated his commitment to try and negotiate a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas following a report that said officials in his administration believe the prospects for brokering such a deal are unlikely during his term.

U.S. officials now believe that a Gaza ceasefire deal between Israel and Palestinian Islamist group Hamas is not expected before the end of President Joe Biden's term in January, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The Biden administration is still pushing talks, but it is no longer expecting a breakthrough.

The president will join the leaders of Australia, India and Japan to announce a new initiative for reducing cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific, a region with especially high rates of the disease.

The summit will take place at his residence — the first time as president he's brought foreign leaders to the state.
