Ranked 4,292nd in the world, Jimmy Abdo had no place making as much noise at the U.S. Amateur as he did. But he did it anyway.

Jackson Herrington placed second in the 125th U.S. Amateur, earning the Tennessee sophomore golfer a spot in the 2026 Masters and the 2026 U.S. Open.

With the victory, Howell, a rising high school senior and verbal commit to Georgia, became the third youngest winner in the 125 editions of the U.S. Amateur, taking over a spot previously held by Tiger Woods.

The Harrisburg Woodies (Class A) and Parkston Rays (Class B) won 2025 state amateur baseball tournament titles.

GAYLORD — Blaine Hardy sat down 12 batters and scattered three hits over seven innings to pitch the Nisswa Lightning to a 6-0 victory over the Kimball Express during the first round of the Minnesota State Amateur Class B Tournament Sunday, Aug. 17.

The Harrisburg Woodies earned the program’s first amateur baseball state championship with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Renner Monarchs Sunday. The Monarchs scored three in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead but were held scoreless the final eight innings.
