The second of five storms that will slam the eastern half of the United States with snow and ice over a two week period is on the way – and this one has more snow than the first.

The storm today is a precursor for another storm this weekend, which could bring 3-6 inches of snow to Massachusetts, according to AccuWeather. "A second winter storm is expected to bring icy impacts to a 1,300-mile-long swath stretching from the Midwest to New England from Friday night through Sunday," AccuWeather said.

Snow is expected to stop in Worcester and the western part of the state before 9 a.m., gradually moving out of eastern Massachusetts by noon. Essex, Suffolk and Middlesex counties in the northeast part of the state may see snow showers through 5 p.m. on Sunday.
