Despite a down year and things going sideways, Iowa wrestling is not expected to see a coaching change from Tom Brands.

The Iowa men’s wrestling team returned to the Bryce Jordan Center for the third session of the 2026 Big Ten Wrestling Championships on Sunday. Session III was headlined by the consolation semifinals and seventh-place matches.

Oklahoma State notched three takedowns over Iowa to earn a 32-11 win over the Hawkeyes, thanks in part to wunderkinds Jax Forrest and Sergio Vega.

Iowa’s Nyla Valencia missed the last two seasons due to injury. She remained resilient and it propelled her to the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships. She earned Iowa’s first win at the event Thursday at Xtream Arena.

Session three of the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling National Championships saw four Hawkeyes advance to title matches, as well as five others secure a podium spot. Nine of the 10 Iowa wrestlers who qualified for the NCAA wrestling tournament finished as an All-American.

Brianna Gonzalez was one of seven Iowa Hawkeyes to advance to semifinals of the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships on Friday at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
