A new prescribed burn, named SVRD PILES - RANDOLPH RX, was initiated today at 8:37 a.m. in Sierra County, California. The prescribed fire has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service.
The fire is burning close to Highway 395, which is closed in the area, and McGee Creek Road. Evacuation orders remain in place in the region for McGee Creek and Long Valley. Other neighboring communities, including Crowley Lake and Aspen Springs, are under evacuation warning. Reports of damage to at least 15 structures surfaced Friday morning.
Located off Forest Road 6N05 in the Bummers Flat area on the North Side of the Middle Fork of Stanislaus River drainage, the lightning-caused fire sits between Beardsley and Donnell Reservoir.
Loop Fire initially started 1:44 p.m. Oct. 27 in Riverside County, California. It has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for 18 days. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
