Heavy rain triggers flooding across the Southland, closing Santa Barbara Airport. While the Bay Area faces King Tide flooding, Southern California braces for debris flows in burn scarred areas.

Experts say that it’s too early to tell what will happen during the rest of the state’s rainy season, but that extreme drought is unlikely.

Heavy rain and flash flooding already led to water rescues and at least one death in Northern California, local officials said. Shasta County Sheriff Michael L. Johnson on Monday declared a state of emergency to prepare for more rain and allow the state to help with hazard mitigation and search and rescue operations.

A storm is expected to bring rain and snow to the Los Angeles area this weekend, with gusty winds and possible flooding possible in burn scar areas, forecasters said.

Multiple storms will once again slam parts of the West Coast after weeks of rain, flooding and snow. Wet weather is expected through the first half of Monday from the Bay Area northward, with the potential for some lingering coastal flooding.

An emphasis has been placed on burn scar areas that are more susceptible to flooding, mudslides and debris flows.

The weekend's winter storm is now considered deadly after a man's body was found in a creek in Santa Barbara County.
