There is an upward trend in India-China relations and Beijing has promised to address New Delhi's needs on rare earths, a top Indian official and a source said on Tuesday, as the neighbours rebuild ties that were damaged by a 2020 border clash.

According to a Chinese readout, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China and India should work to establish a 'correct strategic understanding' and view each other as partners. This statement from China follows discussions held on Monday between Wang Yi and India's External Affairs Minister,

The Chinese statement comes after S Jaishankar and Wang Yi on Monday discussed border peace, trade issues and bilateral exchanges.
