A Texas police officer was shot near an ICE detention facility in Alvarado as the Justice Department is promising zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers and property.

A North Texas police officer is recovering after being shot on Friday night outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Johnson County, officials said.

Sakeik was released Monday from the Prairieland Detention Center. She had been arrested in February while returning from a honeymoon trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands with her husband. Although the islands are a U.S. territory, she was flagged by Customs and Border Protection upon reentry.
