An outbreak tied to listeria infections has been reported in 21 states, including Alabama, with 37 hospitalizations and 11 deaths nationwide.

The Food and Drug Administration recalled nutritional supplemental shakes tied to a deadly outbreak of listeria. The products were sold nationwide and primarily to hospitals and long-term care facilities.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Supplemental shakes that might have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes have been recalled. Lyons Magnus recalled the 4-ounce cartons of Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial frozen shakes after the products’ manufacturer, Prairie Farms Dairy Inc., recalled them from its Fort Wayne, Indiana, facility.
