The Goonies' sequel is gaining momentum, as Potsy Ponciroli has been tapped to pen the screenplay for Warner Bros.

Old Henry director Potsy Ponciroli, 43, will write the script for the new Goonies sequel for the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, Deadline reports. The sequel does not have a director yet, and the plot is still unknown to the public.

The long-awaited "Goonies" sequel inches forward. Warner Bros. has hired Potsy Ponciroli, writer and director of warmly reviewed indie western "Old Henry," to write the screenplay for the legacy sequel for Warner Bros Motion Picture Group.
