Flash floods that swept through Texas over the Fourth of July weekend have left more than 100 people dead and dozens of others missing.

Fifty-nine people are dead as a result of the flooding and torrential rains in Kerr County, Texas, Sheriff Larry Leitha said during a Sunday-morning press conference. That tally includes 38 adults and 21 children, Leitha said.

The death toll in the central Texas floods has risen to over 100. Officials say the majority of the deaths were in Kerr County. Search and recovery crews there are working through masses of downed trees and other debris.
