Kenya named former South Africa international Benni McCarthy as coach on Monday, some three weeks before they resume their World Cup qualification campaign. He will debut later this month with an away match against The Gambia followed by a home clash with Gabon.

Benni McCarthy is officially appointed as Kenya’s new coach, leading them into World Cup qualifiers. His debut match is against The Gambia later this month.

The all-time top scorer for Bafana Bafana, McCarthy is replacing Turkish coach Engin Firat, who resigned in December after Kenya failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
