Two homes on the North Carolina Outer Banks sit precariously in the high waves with their days seemingly numbered.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking three systems in the Atlantic, according to the 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, advisory.

Dangerous rip currents are expected along U.S. east coast beaches from Florida to Canada.

Hurricane Erin has weakened slightly into a Category 2 hurricane but is forecast to "substantially grow in size" as it moves over the western Atlantic Ocean through the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Erin continues to bring along strong gusty winds to much of the East Coast on Thursday as it makes its way to the north Atlantic.
