The Atlanta Braves played some poor baseball for most of the summer. A team that has made the playoffs seven years in a row suddenly looked like it was stuck in the middle of a rebuild. But now, the Braves are on fire, riding a five-game winning streak. And while a playoff berth still seems like a longshot, it’s not entirely out of reach.
The Braves lost to the White Sox 13-9 in Monday’s series opener, snapping a season-long winning streak that started with two victories in New York and continued with a sweep in Cleveland over the weekend.
To say Sunday afternoon’s finale was an up-and-down affair for Jurickson Profar would be an understatement. In the third inning, the Guardians scored their first run when Profar dropped a fly ball from Kyle Manzardo that allowed Steven Kwan to score the game-tying run.
